Home Battery Backup Systems in River Oaks
A home battery keeps your refrigerator, lights, internet and selected circuits running through an outage without fuel, noise or fumes. We size the system to what your home actually uses, wire it neatly to your panel and handle the permit and inspection.
Stored Power That Takes Over Quietly
A battery backup system stores electricity and releases it the moment utility power drops. There is no engine to start and nothing to refuel. In most setups, the lights blink briefly or not at all, and the circuits you chose keep working.
The right system depends on what you want covered. Some homeowners only need the refrigerator, a few lights, the garage door and the Wi-Fi. Others want the air conditioning on during a long summer outage, which takes far more capacity. We start by looking at your panel and your loads, then recommend a size that fits your home rather than the largest unit available.
Batteries can also work for you on ordinary days. If your electricity plan charges more at certain hours, many systems can be set to draw from the battery during those hours and recharge when rates are lower, which can trim running costs.
What Comes With a Battery Install
- Sizing from your loads
- We review your panel one circuit at a time and talk about what you want running in an outage. That sets how much storage and output the system needs.
- Panel check
- An older or crowded panel may need work before a battery can connect safely. If yours does, we explain the reason and price it separately; our Panel Upgrades page covers that work in more depth.
- Essential loads panel
- For systems that back up part of the home, we move your chosen circuits to a dedicated subpanel so the battery powers only those. Every breaker gets a clear label.
- Secure mounting and clean wiring
- The battery and related equipment are mounted level and firmly, inside the garage or on an outside wall, with neat conduit sealed where it goes through.
- Startup and settings
- We test the switchover, make sure the system takes over correctly and set the operating mode with you, including a time-of-use schedule if you want one.
When a Home Battery Makes Sense
Outages keep interrupting your day
If storms or grid strain knock out your power a few times a year, a battery covers those gaps without anyone having to step outside and start equipment.
Someone at home relies on power
Medical devices, a refrigerated medication or a home office that cannot go dark are good reasons to keep a few circuits on no matter what.
A generator does not suit your home
Batteries run silently and need no fuel storage or exhaust clearance. If noise or space rules out a generator, a battery is often the better fit.
Your rate changes by the hour
On plans with higher peak pricing, a battery that covers those hours can lower what you pay for the same comfort.
You are already planning electrical work
A panel upgrade or remodel is a sensible time to prepare for a battery, since the panel is already open and the wiring path can be planned once.
How the Work Goes
- 1
Service visit and assessment
We look at your panel, your service size and where the equipment can sit. You get a clear recommendation and a written scope before anything is ordered.
- 2
Permit and utility coordination
We pull the permit required by the local jurisdiction and coordinate with your utility where the system calls for it.
- 3
Installation day
Power is shut off only for the connection itself. We protect floors and walls along our path, mount the equipment, run the wiring and clean up as we go.
- 4
Inspection and handover
After the inspection, we walk you through the app or display, show you how backup mode works and leave the labeled panel easy to read.

What Shapes the Cost
Battery systems vary more in price than most electrical work, because capacity and the condition of your existing equipment both play a large part. We price your job after seeing your panel and talking through what you want covered. You will know the full scope before work begins.
- Storage capacity
- Covering a refrigerator and lights takes far less storage than running central air through a summer afternoon. More capacity means more battery modules.
- Whole-home or essential circuits
- Backing up selected circuits through a subpanel usually costs less than equipment rated to carry the entire home.
- Panel condition
- If the panel is undersized, full or worn, it may need replacement before the battery can connect.
- Location and wiring distance
- A garage wall next to the panel is simpler than an exterior location across the house, which needs longer conduit runs and weatherproof fittings.
Questions About Home Batteries

How long can a battery power my home in an outage?
That depends on the system size and what is running. A battery covering only essentials lasts far longer than one running the air conditioning. At the visit we estimate runtime for the circuits you pick so you know what to expect.
Will a battery run central air?
Some systems can, but central air uses a lot of power, especially as the compressor starts. It usually takes more capacity and sometimes a soft-start device on the unit. We tell you straight whether it makes sense for your home.
Battery or generator: which should I choose?
A battery is quiet, uses no fuel and fits shorter outages and daily rate savings. A generator keeps going through long outages as long as it has fuel. If a generator suits you better, our Generator Installation page covers it.
Will you handle the permit for the battery?
Yes. We pull the permit the local jurisdiction requires, book the inspection and work with your utility when the system calls for it.
Where is the battery installed?
Usually on a garage wall or an outside wall close to the panel. We check clearances, ventilation and sun exposure, since batteries work and age better out of direct afternoon heat.
